Considerations for Synchronizing Capital Systems Integrator

or Topology Designs

The change policies and options affect how the data is synchronized into a target design from a topological design, authored in Capital Systems Integrator or Topology.

You can synchronize the data from a topological design into one or more harness designs.

Logical data is available for synchronization:

  • Wires and multicores

  • Connectors

  • Splices

Topological data is available for synchronization:

  • Branch configuration

  • Component location

Logical and topological data can be synchronized into an empty harness design as the basis for a new harness, or it can be used to update an existing topology.

If a harness has been split (for example, using sliced bundles) in Capital Systems Integrator, either within one diagram or across multiple diagrams, synchronization will re-assemble the sections to produce a complete harness. If two or more split bundles conflict, and cannot align, the system resolves the layout as much as possible and preserves the bundle lengths.

Change Policies for Capital Systems Integrator or Capital Wiring Integrator Synchronization

If you turn off the bundle creation or update change policies governing synchronization, in the Create or Edit Change Policy dialog box, the following order is applied for incoming connectors and splices:

  1. If a connector or splice on the harness diagram has the same name as the incoming connector or splice, the incoming connector or splice is placed at that location.

  2. If a structure node with the same name as the incoming connector or splice is found on the harness diagram, the incoming connector or splice is placed at that location. This also applies for reference nodes in the case of splices.

  3. If the incoming connector or splice has a new name, the node is placed in free space for manual placement.

If you turn on the bundle creation or update change policies governing synchronization, in the Create or Edit Change Policy dialog box, the placement of connectors and splices is dictated by Capital Systems Integrator.

Mastered Options

If you select the “Capital Systems Integrator mastered options” project preference, option codes from the Capital Systems Integrator harness replace all existing option codes specified in the Applicable Options in the New Harness Design dialog box.

Note

In the target design, the Applicable Options filter is unavailable, because the options applied by Capital Systems Integrator are deemed the master during synchronization; however, filtering using predefined configurations from Capital Project Manager and module codes in Capital Harness Designer Modular remain available.

If the check box is cleared, the codes specified in the Applicable Options in the New Harness Design dialog box are used to populate the target design.

Note

In the target design, the Applicable Options filter, defined configurations from Capital Project Manager, and module codes in Capital Harness Designer Modular are available, because the options applied by Capital Systems Integrator are not the master during synchronization.
