Moving a

Port

This topic explains how to move a port to a new position on its function or block and how to swap the positions of two ports on an object. Note that if an object has multiple instances in a diagram, you can move the port to another instance of that object.

Procedure

1. In the Diagram Window or Design Browser Window either:Click on the port, hold down the mouse button and drag it.

Right-click the port and select Move Port(s).

Click on the port, press Space Bar and enter Move Port(s).

A circle is displayed around the selected port and any connected port. Any valid positions for the port are highlighted in green and a broken line indicates any positions outside of the parent object where you could place it. In this case, the parent object will stretch to include that position. 2. Move the cursor to the position where you want to place the port.Note If another port is connected to the port that you are moving, a circle indicates the position the connected port would take if you moved the port to the current position of the cursor.

If you clicked and dragged the port, release the mouse button. If you used a menu option to start the action, click once to place the port.

3. The port and any connected port/signal are moved to the new position.If you are swapping a port with another port, the ports swap positions.
