Edit Insulation Run Dialog Box

Accessed using one of the following methods:

  • Press I. or Press Space Bar and enter Bundles. or Click the icon. (requires bundle selection and then confirmation to place)

  • Press Space Bar and enter Start and End Nodes. (requires selection of two nodes at the end of a contiguous series of bundles, and then confirmation to place)

Used to add layers of insulation to one or more bundles, either by selecting insulation components from the library or by specifying a set of requirements for which an appropriate part can be selected during engineering calculations.

Caution

If you access this dialog box from Capital E/E Publisher, certain fields are disabled.

Designs that have been modified in Capital E/E Publisher should not be used for continued design work in Capital Harness Designer or Capital Harness Designer Modular as modifications made for publication may have altered the design intent of the source design. You should therefore wait until all design changes have been made to the source design before modifying designs in Capital E/E Publisher.

Objects

Field Description
Name A unique label for the insulation (within this design). Type a name, or click the ellipsis (...) button to select from a list of pre-specified insulation names maintained in the project’s Object Type Information in Capital Project Manager. If this field is left blank, the insulation run is named according to any default names configured for the project in Capital Project Manager. Optional. If you have selected more than one bundle before accessing this dialog box, the Name field will be unavailable. When you click OK, multiple insulation runs are created, one for each bundle. The insulation runs are assigned default names, which you can override by editing each insulation run in turn.
Start/End This table lists the nodes between which the insulation run is applied. Where an insulation run has been applied to multiple bundles, but is not contiguous, a row will be displayed for each bundle. If an object is placed at a node, the object’s name is displayed, otherwise the node name will be listed. Read‑only.
Insulation Code Offers a list of all insulation codes created for the project in Capital Project Manager. Select the required code from the dropdown list, and then click the Apply Code button. The Insulation Layers table displays each layer configured within the code. To remove the association with the code (leaving all layers created from the code intact), click the button. See the Capital Project Manager User Guide to create insulation codes. Optional.
Insulation Layers This table lists the layers of insulation specified for the insulation run, ordered by layer. To add a new layer to the insulation run, click the New button and configure the layer using the Add or Edit Insulation Layer Dialog Box. The following information is displayed for each layer: Layer Layer numbers are generated automatically when a new layer is added, based on an incrementing series of numbers at intervals of 10. To override the number, enter a new value in the field, or amend the value in the Add or Edit Insulation Layer Dialog Box. Click OK to close the dialog box (the table is updated to list the layers in numerical order). You can give multiple layers the same layer number. Mandatory. To change the layer in which an insulation is placed, select the layer in the table, and then click the button to move it up one layer, or the button to move it down one layer. The layer number changes but the contents of the layer are unchanged. All layers with the same layer number are moved together. Insulation Type Displays the name of the insulation type specified for the layer in the Add Insulation Layer dialog box. Read-only. Part Number Displays the part number of the library part associated with the insulation layer in the Add Insulation Layer dialog box. Read-only. Attributes Displays the name given to the insulation layer in the Add Insulation Layer dialog box. Click within the field to open the Add Insulation Layer dialog box, and edit any of the attributes configured for the layer. Read-only. To remove, select an insulation layer, and then click the Delete button.
Option Expression Specifies the derivatives in which the insulation run exists. To create or edit an option expression, click the ellipsis (...) button and use the Edit Option Expression Dialog Box. Alternatively, enter or modify an option expression directly within the field. Option expressions assigned to an insulation run, override any option expressions assigned to individual insulation layers within the run. Where you have assigned a different option expression to different insulation layers, this field displays empty. You must access the Add Insulation Layer dialog box to view and edit such option expressions. Optional.
