Objects

Field Description
Select Ports Lists the ports that can be placed on the instance of the shared object. The following rules are used, in the following order, to determine which ports are listed: Unrestricted ports and automatic unplaced ports are listed. Ports reserved for use in a design other than the current design are not listed. Ports in the shared object’s shared port list but not yet placed on an instance of the shared object are listed. In designs in the active build list, automatic ports placed on instances of the shared object in designs outside the active build list are listed. In designs outside the active build list, ports placed on instances of the shared object in other designs are not listed. If the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference is not selected ports placed on instances of the shared object in the current design are listed. If you delete the last remaining instance of a shared object any ports on the instance are not listed if the design in which the instance was deleted has not been saved since the instance was deleted. If you delete ports from the last remaining instance of a shared object they are not listed if the design in which they were deleted has not been saved since they were deleted. In designs outside the active build list, ports deleted from instances of the shared object are not listed if the design in which they were deleted has not been saved since they were deleted.
Select Ports (continued) See “Port Reservation Status” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide for further information about automatic, reserved and unrestricted ports. Note Unplaced ports are created when you: Delete an instance of a shared object or design-wide object that has ports and is not the last remaining instance of the object. Hold down Ctrl when deleting a port. Unplaced ports are shown in the Unplaced Ports folder under the object in the Design Browser Window. If the “Purge unplaced objects on Save” project preference is selected unplaced ports on non-shared objects are deleted when a design is saved. Select the ports that you want to place on the object instance. To select multiple ports hold down the Ctrl key while selecting. If you choose to place ports individually, when you are placing ports on the diagram they will appear in the order in which you selected them in this table.
Symbol View Displayed only for functions that have an associated symbol. Displays a zoom-able view of the associated symbol. If the function has multiple symbols associated you can select an alternative one from the Symbol dropdown list. Read-only
Place Specifies how you would like to place the ports on the object instance. Choose from: Individually Manually place the selected ports one-by-one. When you are placing ports in the diagram they will appear in the order in which you selected them in the Select Ports table. As Group Place all the selected ports as a group in one click. The ports are placed as individual ports next to each other. You can control the spacing and order of the ports using modifier keys which are described in a tooltip that is shown when placing the ports. When indicated by a tooltip you can press the Shift or Ctrl keys to change between placing Individually and As Group when you are placing the ports.
Load shared details By default not all columns are populated for ports placed on designs other than the current design. This is to aid performance when there are a large number of ports. You can select the “Load shared details” checkbox to populate additional columns.
OK Click to place the selected ports. Unavailable if no ports are selected in the Select Ports table.
