Adding a

Wire Without an Associated Library Part

You can define a wire within a harness design, and specify the details to select a suitable part when engineering calculations are performed.

Procedure

  1. Press Space Bar and enter Wires. The Edit Wires Dialog Box is displayed.

  2. Click the New button.

  3. On the General tab, type a Name for the wire or accept the default offered.

  4. Specify the following values:Color

Material (must be selected before a Spec or CSA can be entered)

Spec

CSA Note For any Material, one or more combinations of Spec and CSA will have been configured in the Wire Sizes in Capital Component Manager. Upon first selecting a Material and then a Spec, the CSA will be entered automatically (based on the combination flagged as Wire Usual if more than one is available) although this can be overridden as long as the new combination exists in the library. Selecting a Material and then entering a CSA will result in a Spec being selected automatically.

  1. Click OK.

Results

The wire is added to the Wires list on the left of the dialog box, and to the Harness Design Browser.
