Joining Objects

You can join two instances of the same design-wide or shared device, plug, jack, inline or block so that they become one instance of the object. You can join instances that were created manually or by a Capital Schematic Generator for Systems Integrator or Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer operation.

This video demonstrates how to join to instances of the same object:

Procedure

Select the object instances to join:

• Press the space bar and enter Join.

• Right-click one of the selected object instances and select Join.

• Press J.

Results

• The selected object instances are joined together and become a single instance.

• The unified instance of the object is located where the first object instance you selected was located and uses the graphical attributes of the first object instance you selected. See also “Editing the Graphical Attributes of an Object” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.

Restriction

The Join action restrictions:

• The selected object instances are not instances of the same object.

• The Join action would result in colliding pins.

• The selected objects are plugs, jacks, or inlines placed in different orientations.

• The selected object instances are instances of an aerospace modular connector.
