Assigning

and Editing License Policies in a User Group

You can assign license policies to user groups. The licenses included in the policy are made available to users in the user group.

Restriction

For Capital X deployments, license policy functionality is not supported.

Note

A user group or user account with no assigned license policies is allowed to use all licenses that are available in your installation.

If you do not create license policies and assign them to user accounts or groups, all users will be able to use all available add-on licenses.

Prerequisites

To assign or edit license policies you must have the appropriate License Policy permissions assigned to your role or user account. See License Policy User Permissions for more information.
You must have created the license policies that you want to assign. See Creating and Editing a License Policy.
You must have created the user group. See Creating and Editing a User Group.

Video

The video provides an example of creating license policies and assigning them to appropriate user groups in order to manage the checking out of licenses for particular users.

Procedure

In the browser tree in Capital Access Manager, either double-click the user group, or right-click it and choose Edit. The Edit User Group dialog box displays.
Click the License Policies tab.The Available Window displays available license policies not assigned to the user group. The Selected window displays those policies already assigned to the user group.

Do the following:

Assign a policy to the user group

Select it in the Available window and click Add. Note You can assign all available policies by clicking Add All.

Remove a policy from the user group

Select it in the Selected window and click Remove. Note : You can remove all previously assigned policies by clicking Remove All.

Click Apply to apply your changes without closing the dialog box, or click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog box.

Results

The allowed licenses for a user group are the sum of all licenses from the assigned license policies.
A license can be checked out for a user only if its use is allowed in any of the user groups to which the user belongs.
Any changes to the assigned policies apply to a user from the group when they next log into an application.
