Skeletal Styling

You can apply a skeletal style to the diagrams produced during harness processing. This is useful where you are not concerned with the appearance of the child diagrams, and it can significantly reduce the time taken to process the design where complex style sets are used.

Diagrams that use the skeletal style have a special icon decoration in the project browser ()

You can only apply the skeletal style during harness processing. It is not available for selection when selecting a style to apply to a diagram. You cannot modify the skeletal style. Diagrams that use the skeletal style cannot be copied.

Opening Diagrams That Use Skeletal Style

You can only open diagrams that use skeletal style in read-only mode. When you select to open a diagram that uses skeletal styling, a dialog is displayed.

Figure 292: Opening a Diagram That Uses Skeletal Styling

  • Apply Style & Open — The style set configured for the diagram is applied, together with any overrides or modifications from the diagram of the parent design. The diagram is opened for editing.

If another diagram in the design, using skeletal style, is already open then the design is read-only, and a message is displayed informing you that this diagram must be closed before opening a diagram for editing. Figure 293: Another Diagram Using Skeletal Style is Already Open

  • Open In Read-Only — Put the design in read-only mode, and open the diagram using the skeletal style. If another diagram in the design is open for editing, a message is displayed informing you that this diagram must be closed before making the design read-only and opening a diagram using skeletal style. • Cancel — Close the dialog without opening the diagram.

Displaying Diagrams That Use Skeletal

Diagrams that use the skeletal style show only:

  • Bundle layout

  • Critical Dimensions

  • Border

Protected Diagrams

If a diagram is protected (see Preserving Changes Made to Derivative and Module Diagrams) the skeletal style will not be applied to that diagram. If the diagram is protected but the option to Ignore Diagram Protection is selected, then the skeletal style will be applied to the protected diagram.
