Adding an Instance of a
Shared Signal
You can add an instance of a shared signal to a diagram.
Prerequisites
- The shared signal that you want to add an instance of must already exist in the project. See Promoting a Signal to a Shared Signal.
Procedure
- In the Shared Objects Browser Window either:Right-click the shared signal you want to add an instance of and select Add Shared Signal.
Double-click the shared signal you want to add a instance of.
The cursor changes to .
Click where you want to place the first end of the signal.
Define sections of the signal by clicking where you want each section to end.
Place the end point of the signal either by double-clicking or by clicking once then right-clicking and selecting Commit.
Results
The shared object instance is added to the diagram.
In the Design Browser Window the new instance of the shared object is shown as a child node of the shared object.
Note
When you create more than one instance of a shared object, cross-references are displayed next to the instances in the diagrams. See Cross-References on Objects for more information about cross-references.
