Viewing Connector Faceview Symbols in Signal Maps

In a Signal Map dialog box, you can view a faceview symbol for a connector. In the case of a slot, you can view a faceview symbol both for the harness connector and the device connector.

Prerequisites

Consider how you want to select the faceview symbols:

              If the connector has a library part with associated faceview
                  symbols in Capital Component Manager, the panel offers these symbols for
                  selection.

              Note 
                  A faceview symbol is created as a comment symbol with
                      pins in Capital Symbol Designer.

              

              If the library part does not have associated faceview symbols
                  in Capital Component Manager, the panel searches for symbols (with the same
                  name as the connector part number) in the symbol libraries specified in the
                  “Connector View Libraries” project preference for Capital Systems
                  Integrator.

Procedure

In a Signal Map dialog box, click the Show Faceviews () button at the bottom of the Signal Mappings tab.
Note The Show Faceviews button is dimmed if there are no accessible comment symbols for the connectors in the signal map.

A Connector Faceview Panel displays at the side of the dialog box.

Note If you are editing a signal map for an inline connector, a panel displays for each side of the inline pair. If you are editing a signal map for a slot, one panel displays on the left of the signal map and it has one tab for the harness connector and one tab for the device connector. The tabs are tearable and can be dragged away from their position in the dialog box so that they display in their own separate windows. When first dragging a tab to display the separate window, you must release the mouse button within the area of the Signal Map dialog box. You can then drag the separate window to a location outside of the dialog box.
In the Connector Faceview Panel, select the connector for which you want to view a faceview symbol. This is necessary only if you are editing a refined connector and multiple faceviews.
If the connector has multiple, associated faceview symbols, select the faceview symbol from the dropdown list.
Each item in the list consists of a symbol library name and symbol name.

Results

The faceview symbol or symbols display in the Connector Faceview Panel tabs.
If you click a cavity in a faceview symbol, or a mapping row in the Signal Mappings tab or Wire Info tab, the cavity is highlighted in all of those locations. You can hold down the CTRL key to select multiple mappings in the faceview symbol or a tab to trigger the highlighting. Caution There are the following limitations to the highlighting:
In a faceview symbol, only cavities that are a RED datum with Connector context and Connector Pin related object will trigger the highlighting. Other types of RED datums will not do so. Highlighting appears on a cavity only if there are multiple mappings for the same cavity or if you are viewing multiple sections of the signal map (that is, Signal Mappings table, Wire Info table, Faceview window). A connector cavity name must match a datum name on the symbol in order to be highlighted in the faceview. When a device connector's part number is linked for the first time in the Connectors tab, you must click OK on the Signal Map dialog box once and reopen it for the device connector to mate with the harness connector so that the cross-highlighting works in all locations.

If you have a refined connector and therefore multiple faceviews, the displayed faceview symbol changes accordingly based on the connector cavity selection as part of the cross-highlighting.
You can toggle the display of connector cavity datum names in the faceview window by clicking the Show all cavity names / Hide all cavity names icons (/). Note There must be RED (related entity datum) type cavity names defined in the symbol to display cavity names.
