Handling of Ground Device Combinations in Wiring Synthesis
The ‘Generate separate ground wiring for each combination structure’ project preference enables intelligent ground wiring synthesis that respects partial ground device combinations across variant configurations. When enabled (the default), it prevents unwanted wiring reuse between combined and non-combined ground devices. If disabled, the system reuses wiring regardless of ground combination status.
Ground devices can be placed in multiple slots (for example, left-hand drive versus right-hand drive configurations) with different combination patterns.
In this example, you have a configuration with two ground slots (GND_DOOR_LHD and GND_DOOR_RHD).
GND_DOOR_LHD Slot
This contains 3 variantly placed ground devices (GND_DOOR_ECU, GND-CTSY, GND-DRLK_DR), which are all combined under one combined ground device GND DOOR ECU_C. Figure 34: GND_DOOR_LHD Slot Regardless of the setting for the project preference, wiring synthesis reuses wiring for all 3 child ground devices and generates one splice with 4 wires. This also contains 3 variantly placed ground devices, but only two devices (GND_DOOR_ECU, GND-CTSY) are combined under a combined ground device GND DOOR ECU_C1; GND-DRLK_DR remains separate. Figure 36: GND_DOOR_RHD Slot When the project preference is enabled, wiring synthesis does not reuse wiring for the non-combined GND-DRLK_DR. It generates one splice with 3 wires for the combined ground devices GND_DOOR_ECU and GND-CTSY. It also generates a separate wire for GND-DRLK_DR. Figure 37: GND_DOOR_RHD Wiring - Preference Enabled When the project preference is disabled, wiring synthesis reuses wiring for all 3 ground devices, even though GND-DRLK_DR is not combined with the others.
