Creating

a Logic Build List from a Pro Product Plan

You can create a Logic build list that includes designs relevant to the options included in a particular pro product plan. Typically, you would do this if you have a bookshelf project from which you want to copy logical designs. A bookshelf project is a set of template, logical designs that can be re-used in other projects.

In a new project you have created a pro product plan, and specified the options that are default or optional in vehicle models, options in packages, and options in restrictions. You then use this process to copy template logical designs from a bookshelf (source) project to the new (target) project. The system copies only designs that include content tagged with the options included in the pro product plan (that is, those options in the vehicle models, packages, and restrictions).

At the end of the process, the target project will include:

  • A new Logic build list.

  • Logical designs that belong to the build list and that contain objects either with no object expression or with option expressions that include options from the pro product plan.

Prerequisites

  • The source and target projects must include some of the same options.

  • The target project must have a pro product plan. The plan must include options (in vehicle models, in packages, in restrictions).

  • Logical designs in the source project must contain some objects (such as, devices, conductors, and so on) that have option expressions with combinations of the plan options.

  • Diagrams must not be open in the source project.

  • Capital Integration Server must be running.

Procedure

  1. Open the target project in Capital Systems Integrator or Capital Platform Designer.

  2. In the Project Browser Window, right-click either the Build Lists > Logic node or the pro product plan, and choose Create Build List from Plan.The Create Build List from Plan Dialog Box displays.

  3. Specify the name of the build list, a general description for it, and its release level.

  4. If you accessed the dialog box by right-clicking on the Build Lists > Logic node, specify the pro product plan whose options are being used to choose the designs to be included in the new build list.

  5. Specify the source bookshelf project from which you want to copy designs.

  6. Select the release level of the designs to be copied. The action will copy designs with this release level only.Note If there are multiple design revisions with the same release state, the action selects only the latest version. Therefore you get just one revision of each single design.

  7. Click OK.The Copying To Project dialog box displays. Note This dialog box is the same one that you use when performing a standard copy of designs between projects. See Copying Designs From One Project to Another for further information about that process and using the fields on the dialog box. Be aware that the shared object tabs in the Import Design to Project Wizard are unavailable for this build list creation action.

  8. When you have edited the settings for copying the designs in the Copying to Project dialog box and Import Designs to Project Wizard (if required), click OK on the Copying to Project dialog box.A progress bar displays and closes when the copy is complete.

Results

  • The new Logic build list is added to target project and can be seen in Project Browser Window.

  • The build list has a property PlanOptions whose value shows the options from the plan (for example, A|B).

  • New logical designs are added to the target project and can be seen in Project Browser Window.

  • The designs contain objects either with no object expression or with option expressions that include options from the pro product plan. For example, if the product plan included options A and B, but not C, the action does not copy any object (such as a device, conductor, multicore) that has an option expression of just C.

  • You can now associate a Capital Systems Integrator design in the target project with the Logic build list and with the pro product plan. See Associating Logical Designs with the Topological Design and Associating a Pro Product Plan with a Design. You can run a design rule check “Inconsistent options between plan and build list” to identify whether the options in the associated build list and plan do not match. See Design Rule Checks.
