Introduction to 3D Electrical Design

Design Browser (Capital Navigator)

The Design Browser (Design tab) is displayed in the Capital navigator window. It lists all topological and harness objects present in the 3D electrical context, grouped into folders by object type.

Field Description
Associate Wiring Designs () Displays the Associate Wiring Designs dialog box to associate Capital Logic Designer wiring designs with the 3D electrical context. See Wiring Design Association in 3D Electrical Design.
Show Routing Assistant () Opens the Routing Assistant. If wires are selected, this button runs the assistant. If no wires are selected, the Routing Assistant opens empty. See Routing Assistant in 3D Electrical Design.
Set Rules and Constraints () Displays the Edit Design Properties dialog box where you can set rules and constraints for the 3D electrical context. See 3D Separation Constraints in 3D Electrical Design.
Associate Signals by Attribute or Property () Displays the Associate Signals By Attribute or Property dialog box to group wires into topology signals. See Grouping Wires into Signals in the Capital Wiring Integrator chapter of the Capital Logic Designer User Guide.
Open Output Window Opens the Capital Output Window. See 3D Electrical Design Interface in Designcenter NX.
Refresh Wiring () () Synchronizes changes in the associated Capital Logic Designer designs with the 3D electrical context. See Project Based 3D Electrical Context for an explanation of this concept or Synchronizing Wiring Changes with the 3D Electrical Context for process details. When is displayed, the 3D electrical context and the associated Capital Logic Designer designs have become out-of-sync and you must synchronize them again.
Tree Lists all topological and harness objects present on the diagram, grouped into nodes by object type. To highlight an object in the Graphics window, select the object in the browser tree. Each object entry in the Design Browser offers all of the right‑click options available to the object on the diagram. Hover over a wire to display a tooltip that indicates the start and end point (device, connector, pin) and the topology signal under which it is grouped. The Routed node contains two further nodes: Unassigned and Signals. When wires have been routed along the bundles in the 3D electrical context, the routed wires are displayed under the Unassigned node or, if grouped into signals, under the Signals node. The Unrouted node contains wires and multicores that terminate at an object that is not associated with an object from the Capital Logic Design designs (for example, a newly added inline pair). Unrouted multicores from overbraids are listed here also. If an object under the Unrouted node is partially routed, an orange circular arrow displays on its icon (for example, ). Multicores that are shared in Capital Logic Designer have a shared object icon () under the Unrouted node. When they are routed and move under the Routed node, they no longer have a shared object icon ().
Enter Filter String box () Enter a series of characters. A filter is applied to the browser so that only objects with names containing that series of characters are listed. The behavior of the filter varies depending on whether you use wildcards and the case (upper or lower) of the specified characters. Show all objects / Show active assembly objects / Show harnesses only / Show routing only You can choose a filter for the Design Browser: Show all objects Shows all objects in the design. Show active assembly objects Shows only objects in the currently active assembly. Show harnesses only Shows only the Harnesses node and the harnesses inside it. Show routing only Shows only the Routed and Unrouted nodes with the nodes and objects inside them.
