Selecting

a Harness Connector Mating for a Device Connector

You can automatically identify mated device connectors that have one or more valid part numbers (matings) defined in Capital Component Manager, and then choose one of the alternative matings to be the mated harness connector.

Prerequisites

• On a diagram, you have added a device with a library part that has a device connector footprint and the device side connector in the footprint has multiple possible matings. See Adding a Device From Capital Component Manager as a Parameterized Device. Figure 37: Device Connector Matings

• You have run Generate Harness Connectors (see Generating Harness Connectors Using a Footprint) on the device and the process has selected one of the possible matings as the harness connector, or you have manually added a harness connector and mated it with the device connector.

Procedure

1. Toggle the “Highlight connectors with multiple part numbers” icon () on the Status Bar to activate the feature. Harness connectors that are mated to device connectors with one or more valid matings display a red exclamation mark Push Pin icon (). See Figure 38 where harness connector C-70718 is mated with the device connector C-70719.

2. Hover over and highlight one of the identified harness connectors to display a tooltip describing how to assign an alternate part.

3. Use Ctrl+click to open the Select Part popup menu displaying the valid matings defined for the device side connector in Capital Component Manager, and their descriptions and revisions.
   Bold text in the Figure 40 identifies the currently selected mating.

4. Click to select the required mating.Note The list of connectors that are displayed in the Select Part popup menu is influenced by the following project preferences on the General node of the Preferences dialog box: Current components only. Preferred components only. Allowed Domains for Parts, Symbols and ICDs and Shared Objects.

Results

• Once you have made a selection, the push pin changes to a green Check Mark icon () and the library part assigned to the harness connector is updated.
