Creating and Editing a User Account

You can create and edit a user account login name and password.

Prerequisites

Open the Edit User Account Dialog Box. See Edit User Account Dialog Box. Figure 18: User Account Login Tab

Procedure

Enter the following details on the Login tab:Login Name - the username the user must specify when logging into the Capital applications. Caution If this user account is to be flagged as a delegated sign-on account (see below) this username must match the one used to log in to the operating system running the Capital client applications.

If your Capital client applications are running on a Windows platform and this account is to be flagged for delegated sign-on, add the name of the network domain to which the Windows user account belongs to the start of the username, separating the two with a backslash character. For example: Domain Name \ User Name If your Capital client applications are running on a UNIX or Linux platform, a network domain name is not required. Caution As the presence of the "" character will be detected as the separator between the domain name and the user name, user names with a "" will be rejected.

Email - Enter an email address for the user. Used with the Collaborate functionality. Maximum 255 characters. Optional.

Change Password - click this button to specify the password the user must enter when logging into the Capital applications. If this user account is enabled for delegated sign-on validation, a default password of initial will be provided; this can be overwritten, but as delegated sign-on account passwords are not validated, there is no need. Note To ensure account security, passwords must conform to strict password requirements. Applicable password configuration requirements are shown within the Edit Password dialog box. When your password satisfies a required secure configuration requirement, a green marker is shown next to the requirement. These requirements are only configurable by user accounts with the 'Security > Administration' permission, or a user account with the User Administrator role. Delegated Sign On - select this option to enable Delegated Sign On validation for this user account.

Derived Access Control - select this option to manage this user account in Derived Access Control mode whereby the user groups (and their assigned roles) to which the user belongs enforce the user’s permissions, read/write access to domains, and change policies. See Derived Access Control for more information.

Upload Image - click this to launch a dialog box where you can associate an image file with this user account. Used with Collaborate functionality.

If you do not wish to create or edit the options on the other tabs, click the OK button to save the details and leave the Edit User Account dialog, or click the Apply button to save the changes and keep the dialog open. See the tab descriptions below.
