Criteria for Using Footprint API and Signal Map API at Slots

APIs are available for particular actions related to editing footprints and signal maps at slots. Each API relates to particular capabilities.

The available APIs are:

• Footprint API

            Defines the relationship between connector cavities and device pins.
  

• Signal Map API at Slots

            Defines the mapping of signals and wires to device pins and connector
                cavities.

• In simple cases, the footprint API generally achieves this using the inferred connection to a device pin. However, complex scenarios are not supported in the standard functionality and the Signal Map API at Slots gives a more consistent user experience.
