Associate Cavities with Wires/MLCs/Overbraids Dialog Box

To access: Opens automatically following the insertion of a new library part into the Edit Connector Dialog Box, Edit Device Dialog Box, or Edit Splice Dialog Box.

Used to associate cavities (that have wires, multi-location components, or overbraids) with new cavities following the re-selection of a connector, device, or splice library part.

Objects

Field Description
Cavities This field lists all of the cavities configured for the newly selected library part.
Wires/MLCs This field lists all wires or multi-location components that were associated with cavities in the removed library part, in the form: Connector_Name:Cavity:Wire(s):MLC(s). Multiple wires or MLCs in the same cavity are separated by a comma.
Associate Creates an association between a cavity in the new connector library part, and the contents of a cavity from the old library part, whereby the contents will be placed into the new cavity when the connector change is updated.
Associate All Automatically creates associations by matching cavity names between the old and new connector library parts.
Disassociate Removes the association from a selected cavity or wire/MLC.
Disassociate All Removes all associations.

Usage Notes

Wires/MLCs and overbraids are automatically associated with the cavities in the new connector, device or splice library part where a match is found for the cavity names. Where no match can be found, the wires/MLCs will have to be manually associated (unassociated cavities and wires/MLCs are displayed in bold text). To do this:

  1. Select the cavity into which you want to place the wire/MLC in the Cavities list.

  2. Select the components you want to place into the cavity, in the Wires/MLCs list.

  3. Click Associate. The selected cavities and wires/MLCs are displayed in a regular (non-bold) font to indicate that they are associated.

Whether the associations are created automatically or manually, upon clicking OK, the parts are transferred to the new connector cavities.
