Merging Connectors

The merge process uses a set of criteria to decide whether the connectors at the selected bundle on the member design and the target bundle on the merged design are equal, similar, or different.

Equal

The merge process classes both connectors as Equal when all of the following are satisfied:

  • Both are connected to the same node / bundle.

  • Both part numbers, Names, and some attributes (Greased, Plugs Required are not checked) are the same.

  • The number of connected wires is the same for both connectors.

  • Pin-out (cavities, their names, and connected wires) details of connected wires is the same.

Similar

The merge process classes both objects as Similar (connectors are not equal but they can be Force Merged) in the following situation:

  • Both are connected to the same node / bundle.

  • Part numbers do not have to be the same. You can Force Merge connectors with different part numbers.

  • There is a difference in the following: Number of connected wires.

Pin-outs (same wires but in different cavities).

Different

The merge process classes both objects as Different in the following situation:

  • There is a difference in the connected wires. Connectors cannot be Force Merged because each version of the connector with its connected wires is required.
