Revising Impacted Child Designs

If the Change Impact Interactive and Design Compare actions identify any modifications in the composite designs that impact the child designs, you can automatically create design revisions of the impacted designs.

Restrictions and Limitations

• You cannot change the name of an impacted child design as part of the revision process. Any constraints that update the name of the impacted child design are ignored.

• If you do not have domain access or edit permissions for a child design, the design will not be listed in the Revise Impacted Designs Dialog Box.

Prerequisites

• Composite design containing child designs exists.

• A revision of that composite design, with links to the child designs of the earlier revision, is open.

• Change Impact Interactive or Design Compare actions have identified modifications in the composite designs that impact the child designs.

• Impacted child designs are marked with a “tick” () in the Impacted column on the Change Impact

• Interactive / Design Compare Tab.

Procedure

1. Click Revise Impacted Designs.The Revise Impacted Designs Dialog Box opens to display all the impacted child designs in the composite design. The Include check box is selected on all impacted child designs and the next applicable revision identifier is applied by default. Note The Include check box is cleared, if a new revision already exists for the child design.

2. Select the Include check box for the impacted child designs you want to revise.

3. Type a description of the impacted child designs or the reason for the revision in the Short Description column.

4. (Optional) You can automatically bulk update the Part Number, Revision, and attributes or properties of the child design, if you have assigned rules to the design containing Design Attributes and Properties Constraints:Click the Design Attribute Constraint dropdown list and select the required rule. Click Apply. The constraint changes are applied to the selected child designs and updated in the dialog box.

5. Click OK to revise the selected child designs.

Results

• The Change Impact - Interactive / Design Compare tab is closed in the Output window.

• The revised child designs are available in the Harness Design Browser.
