Replacing
a Logical Design Association
You can replace a logical design association with either an association to a newer revision of that design or with an association to a similar design that is not a related revision.
When you do this, the topological design retains the device placement and wiring for common devices and nets from those logical designs or revisions.

Prerequisites
You must have created the new design or design revision in Capital Logic Designer or Capital Project Manager.
If you are working in managed mode (where a build list association is used), you must add the new design/revision to the associated build list and remove the old one.
Caution
You must consider the names of any devices that are common to the old and new designs. If they do not have the same UID or name, you may add a special property "IntegratorSyncInstance" to those objects so that the system can match them. Procedure
Follow the appropriate procedure from the table.

Results
New devices are ready to be placed.
New nets are ready to have wiring synthesized.
The topological design retains the device placement and wiring for common parts of those logical designs or design revisions.
The system identifies common parts by matching objects. When matching objects, the system does the following: Matches as many objects as possible using UIDs (unique identifier in database). This applies only when the designs are different revisions of the same design.
Matches as many remaining unmatched objects as possible based on object name. If just one device in the new design has the same name as a device in the old design, the system matches them.
If multiple devices in the new design have the same name as a device in the old design, the system looks for one instance with matching pin names in the new design. If it finds one, the system matches it with the device in the old design.
If a device in the old design matches the device name and all pin names on multiple devices in the new design, the system replaces the separate devices with a new, merged device.
If multiple devices in the old design match all the pin names on a single device in the new design, the system replaces the single device with all of the old devices.
Caution For devices with new names and UIDs that will not match objects in the old design, you can specify a special property "IntegratorSyncInstance" on the appropriate devices in each design so that the system will match them. - If data in the old and new design cannot be matched, the system may leave a device unplaced or map a device pin to a new cavity. In these cases, wiring may be lost. For Example scenarios are: You have moved a logical device from one design to another.
You have changed a device's name between the old design and the new design (and they are not revisions of the same design). You can use property "IntegratorSyncInstance" to avoid the loss of wiring in this case.
You have moved pins from one logical device to another, and you place the new logical device in a different slot to the old logical device.
You have changed a pin's name.
