Internode Dimensions Behavior
Component Positions
If you edit the Internode dimensions of two adjacent objects, the bundle length and any related anchor node dimensions are updated automatically, to maintain the component positions on the bundle.
Related Node Positions
Reference nodes related to the same anchor node are interdependent on each other, so changes to the Internode dimensions of two adjacent objects automatically update any related anchor node dimensions to maintain their positions on the bundle.

Nodes Without Internode Dimensions
You can use the Internode Options settings in Capital Diagram Styling User Guide to configure which objects display Internode dimensions.
To view nodes without Internode dimensions:
Editing Internode Dimensions
Edit an internode dimension by double-clicking it on the diagram. The internode dimension editing dialog is displayed.
Enter a new value for the internode dimension. Dynamic validation highlights invalid values in red.
Minimum lengths of Internode dimensions are validated based on the following rules:
Single segments between objects displaying Internode dimensions can be modified to zero.
Objects on a bundle cannot change sequence.
In constrained edit mode, objects with hidden internode dimensions have a fixed offset from their anchors.
Invalid values are displayed in red. Hover over the value to see more information in a tooltip.
Editing Internode Dimensions When Nodes With Hidden Internode Dimensions Are Present
If you are editing an internode dimension which spans a node where internode dimensions have been hidden, then a modifier icon will be shown.

By clicking on the modifier icon you can change the way internode dimension edits are handled when they affect one or more nodes where internode dimensions are hidden.
Constrained (), the positions of nodes where internode dimensions have been hidden are considered fixed, and any length changes that would result in them moving will be shown as invalid. Default.
Unconstrained (), any changes to internode dimensions which affect nodes where internode dimensions have been hidden will result in the length change being proportionally distributed between those nodes.
The availability of this option is controlled by the System Preference Allow proportional distribution for internode dimensions edits. See System Preferences Dialog Box in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.
Constrained Internode Length Changes
When editing an internode dimension that spans one or more objects with hidden internode dimensions, and the option to apply constraints to internode length changes is chosen, objects with hidden internode dimensions have a fixed offset from their anchor nodes. The minimum length you can enter is constrained by the length of specific fixed segment lengths, as shown in Figure 257 and Figure 258.
For internode dimensions spanning one object with a hidden internode dimension, the minimum length is constrained by the fixed segment length adjacent to the object, in the direction of its anchor. Therefore, only the segment on the opposite side of the object to its anchor node is modified.

For Internode dimensions spanning more than one object with hidden internode dimensions, the minimum length is constrained by the sum of the fixed segment lengths adjacent to the objects, in the direction of their anchors. Therefore, only the segment on the opposite side of the objects to their anchor nodes is modified.

Unconstrained Internode Length Edits
When editing an internode dimension that spans one or more objects with hidden internode dimensions, and the option to allow unconstrained internode length changes is chosen, changes will be distributed proportionally between the segments impacted by the internode length change.
Example
An internode dimension of 180 covers a section of a bundle with two splices, which have hidden internode dimensions. The splices are anchored at node N1. For the example, the internode segment lengths A, B and C are shown using standard dimensions.

You halve the length of the section from 180 to 90.
In constrained edit mode, the position of the two splices is fixed as they have hidden internode dimensions.
In the direction of the anchor node (N1), the sum of the segments bounded by the splices is 130 (A+B). The new value of 90 is less than 130, and therefore this change would result in the clip at node N7 changing places with the splice at N101. This is not allowed, and the value is displayed in red to show it is invalid.

With unconstrained internode dimension changes selected, the change in length is distributed proportionally between all the affected segments. Segments A, B and C are all updated.
