Managing Dictionary Entries

The standard names for designs, devices and nets can be authored directly via the web client in Capital Devices. Additional properties can be associated with the names and propagated to the nets and devices when placed in designs.

Prerequisites

In order to edit information, the table in the Messages or Signals panel must be unlocked.

Procedure

1. Click the create icon to create a new dictionary entry on any of the Design, Devices or Nets panels. The process is the same in all cases.

   Click the delete icon if you wish to delete an entry.

2. Specify a name for the entry, together with a short description and description. User defined properties can also be added for Devices and Net entries. See "Managing Properties in ICDs" for further information.

3. Column visibility can be controlled by clicking the icon and ticking which columns you wish to show or hide. Spreadsheet-like functionality is supported to aid speedy copying and creation of multiple entries. See "Adding a Pin to a Device" for further information on how to utilize this functionality.

   Tip: You can apply a sort order to any column in the table by clicking V in the column header. Available sort orders are ascending or descending. You can also pin the selected column to the left or right of the screen for viewing across large table entries by clicking Pin Left or Pin Right. The sort order and column pin can be removed by clicking x.

4. Click the save icon to save the new dictionary entry.

Results

The dictionary entry is created and available for use.
