Usage Notes

Design Selection Validation

The report identifies the impact of changes made to revisions of the same design. To help you make meaningful design comparisons, the system automatically checks for possible inconsistencies between your Before and After selections. A message box and information in the Output Window provide details in such cases.

The validation identifies the following inconsistencies:

  • A design in the Before tab does not have “corresponding” selection in the After tab (the converse is also checked). A “corresponding” design is one that has the same Part Number but a different Revision.

  • The same design is selected in both the Before and After tabs.

The validation is triggered when you click Next on the Design Selection page.

In some situations, you may want to ignore any inconsistencies that are identified. For example, you have a build list with all the harnesses of one vehicle. You may want to make a copy of the build list (in Capital Project Manager), remove a particular harness, and create the report using the two build lists, to see the impact to your overall material consumption. In this scenario, validation would identify the “missing” harness but you could click “Continue” to ignore the inconsistency and generate the report.
