Combining Formboards

You can combine multiple harness layouts in a formboard design.

Prerequisites

  • You have created a new combined design and selected two member designs as in Preparing to Merge or Combine Formboards topic.

  • The design is open.

Procedure

  1. Add the complete content from one member design to the combined formboard diagram:Select the required member design by clicking into its preview window.The preview window border becomes highlighted.

Click the Place All action on the Formboard Manager Ribbon Tab. The whole content of the selected member design displays on the merged formboard. Note See “Merged or Combined Content Color Display” for how content is highlighted on member and merged designs throughout the combining process.

  1. Add content from the second member design to the combined formboard design.Select the required member design by clicking into its preview window.The preview window border becomes highlighted.

Click the Place All action on the Formboard Manager ribbon.A ghost image of the selected harness displays on the combined design.

Move the cursor over the combined design area.The ghost image of the selected harness moves with the cursor.

  1. Move the cursor around the combined design to a suitable position and click the canvas.The harness is placed at your chosen location.

  2. (Optional) Combine further harnesses by closing a preview window and clicking the Select Formboard Diagram button to open the Select Formboard Diagram Dialog Box.You can select: A different diagram.

Another instance of a diagram that is already added to the combined diagram.

  1. You can now manipulate the various harness layouts on your combined diagram to best fit your chosen border:Select and move full harnesses by right-clicking on a bundle belonging to the required harness and choosing Select Harness.The selected harness becomes highlighted. Use the cursor to drag it to a different position.

Use the Bundle Configuration and Wire Path Highlighting tools to manipulate the layout as required. Update and place fixtures automatically using Fixture Placement and Deletion Constraints as required. Apply different styling as required.

  1. At any point, you can stop your combining actions, save, close, and re-open the design later to continue.
