Harness Design Browser

The Harness Design browser, located on the lower-left side of the application window, lists all the harness objects present on the current design, grouped into folders by object type.

To select an object, navigate through the folder structure, and then select the object name to highlight the object on the diagram.

Each object entry in the Harness Design browser offers all of the right-click options available to the object on the diagram. Hovering your mouse over an item displays a tooltip, offering information relevant to that item. For example, the tooltip for a connector displays the name of the node at which it is placed.

For objects such as connectors that may require cavity information the objects will display terminal, cavity seal and cavity plug details under each specific cavity. Where multiple cavity detail combinations exist per cavity, each terminal and seal combination will be listed under its own Cavity Detail node.

You can use the Filter box, displayed at the bottom of the browser, to refine the list.

Note

You can hide the Harness Design browser (and the Project browser) by pressing Space Bar and entering Toggle Browser Area. You can return it in the same way.

Cavity Display

You can expand the connector, ring terminal, backshell, splice, and device nodes to display a list of any components and wires that are located at each cavity (or pin in the case of devices). Each list is alphanumerically sorted on components, followed by wires.

You can right-click a cavity and select Edit Cavity to open the Edit Cavity Dialog Box where you can add, edit, and delete properties.

Where a cavity has multiple cavity details, the components are “grouped” into their respective Cavity Detail child folder.

Splices with center-stripped wires display a “virtual” cavity named CS.

You can open the Edit Wires Dialog Box by right-clicking a wire and selecting Wires, alternatively select a wire and use the keyboard shortcut W.

Icons

Wires can display with differing icons.

1A-POWER — Wire does not have a part number assigned.
2A-POWER — Wire has a part number assigned.
3A-POWER — Wire does not have a part number assigned and is in a multicore.
4A-POWER — Wire has a part number assigned and is in a multicore.

This is how the wire icons display in the Multicores folder.
