Viewing

Change History Since Last Save or Last Action

When you are editing a Capital Systems Integrator design, you open a Change History tab in order to compare the live wiring data in that design with the wiring data prior to the last save or prior to the last action.

Prerequisites

  • You configure default sets and additional sets of attributes and properties that are compared for each object type by the change history functionality. This means that you can limit the reported differences to a meaningful set for you. See Configuring the Attributes and Properties Displayed in Change History.

Procedure

  1. On the Workflow ribbon tab at the top of the application, click Change History. A Change History tab displays in the Output Window at the bottom of the application. See Change History Tab for descriptions of all interface elements on that tab.

  2. Select All Attributes if you want to see change results for both the defaults sets and additional sets of attributes and properties configured in the config/changehistory_config.properites file. Do not select it if you want to see change results for just the default sets. The video shows examples of the Change History tab behavior with and without All Attributes selected.

  3. Select whether you want to see the changes in the design from when you last saved or for the last action. The video shows examples of the Change History tab behavior with Last Action or Last Save selected.

  4. Edit the design as required.

Results

The Change History tab updates accordingly when you perform actions:

  • If set to Last Action, it automatically updates to show changes when you perform an action.

  • If set to Last Save, it automatically updates to show all changes since the last time you saved the design. This list updates as you perform actions.

  • The change history table displays the reported changes grouped by harness. Click a harness row to expand the reported changes below it.

  • When you save the design, Change History tab becomes blank because the change history is reset.

  • You can save the change history results currently displaying on the tab at any time by clicking the Save To CSV button ().

Caution

Change History functionality expects wires, devices, and connectors in a harness to have unique names. If you have objects with duplicate names in a harness, Change History cannot report changes for them and instead reports them with a Change Type of "Duplicate".
