Creating a Terminal Strip

Terminal blocks can be assembled / grouped into terminal strips using the Type Code attribute and a terminal strip property.

Prerequisites

The terminal blocks to add to a terminal strip are added to a design.
A component type code has been created with Type Code set to the value of TerminalBlockTypecode, as specified in the \config\TerminalPlanConfig.properties file, and Group Name set to “Device”. See “Creating a Component Type Code” in the Capital Component Manager User Guide. Note The default value specified for TerminalBlockTypecode in the \config\TerminalPlanConfig.properties file is “X”.

Select the terminal blocks to use to create a terminal strip:Press the space bar and enter Properties.

Right-click and select Properties.

The Properties Dialog Box is displayed.

In the Attributes section of the General tab, set the value of the Type Code attribute to the value of TerminalBlockTypecode, as specified in the \config\TerminalPlanConfig.properties file.
On the Properties tab, add a property with Name set to the value of TerminalStripProperty, as specified in the \config\TerminalPlanConfig.properties file, and specify Value as the name of the terminal strip. See “Editing the User-Defined Properties of an Object” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide to add a property to an object.Note The default value specified for TerminalStripProperty in the \config\TerminalPlanConfig.properties file is “TerminalStrip”.
Click OK.

Tip

Once you have created a terminal strip, you can:

Add additional terminal blocks to it using the Type Code attribute and terminal strip property, in the same way as described in this procedure.
Use the Groups Browser to see which terminal blocks are in which terminal strip by grouping objects using the terminal strip property (the value specified for TerminalStripProperty in the \config\TerminalPlanConfig.properties file).
