Updating

a Symbol Block in a Composite Symbol

If a symbol that has been used as a symbol block in a composite symbol is modified, you must manually update any instances of the symbol block in composite symbols in Capital Symbol Designer and in Capital Logic Designer.

You can only update the instances if the number of pins on the symbol, used as the symbol block, have not changed. If the number of pins has changed, you must delete the symbol block from the composite symbol and add the symbol block again in Capital Symbol Designer, and then update any instances of the composite symbol in Capital Logic Designer.

Procedure

  1. After the changes to the symbol block have been saved, open the Diagram window for the composite symbol in Capital Symbol Designer or the Diagram window containing the instance of the composite symbol in Capital Logic Designer.

  2. Right-click the instance of the symbol block and select Update Instances. If more than one symbol block has been changed, you can select all of the symbol blocks at the same time. Alternatively, you can select the symbol blocks to be updated, press the space bar and enter Update Symbol.

Results

The symbol block is updated in the composite symbol. If the number of pins on the symbol used as the symbol block has changed, the instance is not updated.
