Design-Wide Objects

A design-wide object is a non-shared connectivity object that can have multiple instances, and represent the object, across multiple diagrams in a logical design revision. Unlike shared objects, design-wide objects are specific to a particular revision of a design and do not have their own separate revision schedule. All the instances of a particular design-wide object must be placed within the same design revision.

Design-wide objects use cross-references in the same way as shared objects. See Cross-References on Objects or Pins.

Note

If you delete all but one of the instances of a design-wide object, the remaining instance reverts to a non-design-wide object. You can make it into a design-wide object again by adding a second instance.

When copying and pasting an object to create a new instance of the same object, use Ctrl+Shift+V when pasting. See “Copying and Pasting an Object in a Diagram” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.
