Overview
Marine Electrical Flow
The Marine Electrical flow is used to define the source electrical design schematics, create the 3D cableway in NX, and then covert the cableway to a nodal network to enable detailed cable routing in Capital Cable Router.
The flow to define and create the design data through to routing cables within the 3D mechanical design includes the following stages:
Define system and project data
Synchronize Interface Control Document (ICD) definitions
Author the electrical design schematic (Nets)
Create the electrical cabling (cables)
Create preliminary cable routing
Optimize the cable route
Approve the route
Save the physical details of the cable (route / length) to Teamcenter

Siemens Teamcenter connects the design data from multiple sources and orchestrates change management across the following design applications:
Siemens Teamcenter / Active Workspace (PLM platform)
Capital Device Modeler (device management)
Capital Cabling Designer (electrical design schematics)
NX (mechanical design / cableway design)
Capital Cable Router (cable routing)

Siemens Teamcenter - Product Lifecycle Management
(PLM)
Siemens Teamcenter is a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform that is the backbone and central vault for all vessel data including an Electrical Breakdown Structure (EBS) containing a system-oriented breakdown of vessel equipment (devices) and cables. Capital Device Modeler (Interface Control
Definitions)
Capital Device Modeler is used to manage electrical device definitions using Interface Control Documents (ICDs) of which a skeletal definition is fed from Teamcenter. See also Synchronizing Interface Control Definitions (ICDs).
Capital Cabling Designer
Capital Cabling Designer is used to create single line diagrams of the intended design and the connectivity between devices, and then convert the connectivity to physical cables and part numbers. See also “Electrical Design Flow” and “Single Lines” in the Capital Logic Designer User Guide.
NX
The Routed Systems Designer in NX is used to design cableways between electrical devices which are placed within the context of the 3D structure of the vessel and define cableway equipment, such as trays and hangers.
The Cable Router in NX is used to visualize the Nodal Network and the routes of cables from Capital Cable Router and interactively define the routes in 3D.
Capital Cable Router Admin
Capital Cable Router Admin enables System Administrators to manage user accounts, create and configure the cable routing projects, and define routing rules to determine the behavior of the routing engine in Capital Cable Router.
You can perform the following tasks to configure the cable routing for each project:
Configure specific project codes to be active in each project.
Assign Fill types and segregation spacing to calculate the available space for cables within the cableway.
Configure rules and preferences to guide the cable routing processes.
Capital Cable Router
Capital Cable Router enables Routing Engineers to combine the cable design from Capital Cabling Designer with the MCAD design from NX, to route cables in the context of a 3D cableway network.
You can perform the following tasks of the flow using Capital Cable Router:
Create preliminary routing to explore potential cable routes.
Examine the route and MCAD structure in 3D to optimize the design.
Review, release, and approve the final routes before exporting the data to Teamcenter.
Note
To set up a Capital Cable Router system, you must perform additional installation and configuration steps for the Configuration Managed Project Integrated Cabling (CMPIC) database and server. See the “CMPIC Database” chapter of the Install Guide for Capital Cable Router for further information after you have installed the Capital software.
