Converting

an Automatic or Reserved Pin to an Unrestricted Pin

You can convert a reserved or automatic pin on a shared device, plug, jack, inline, or ring terminal to an unrestricted pin.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the shared device, plug, jack, ring terminal, or one side of the shared inline to convert a pin on and select Edit Shared Device, Edit Shared Plug, Edit Shared Receptacle, Edit Shared Ring Terminal, or Edit Shared Inline.Note To convert a pin on a shared inline, right‑click the plug or the jack, do not select both sides of the inline.

The Edit Shared Device dialog box, Edit Shared Plug dialog box, Edit Shared Receptacle dialog box, Edit Shared Ring Terminal dialog box, or Edit Shared Inline dialog box is displayed. See Edit Shared Dialog Boxes.

  1. Click the Pin Reservations tab.Note The Pin Reservations tab is unavailable if there are no pins in the object definition of the shared object.

  2. Select the pin in the Automatic Reservations list and click Add.Note You can use Ctrl+click to select and convert multiple pins. To convert all of the pins, click Add All without selecting any pins.

The pin is added to the Unrestricted Pins list.

  1. Click OK.

Examples

In Figure 62 pin ACC has been made unrestricted, therefore you can place multiple instances of the pin on instances of the shared object in any design within the project.
