Routing Assistant Behavior for Different Combinations of Conductors
When you use the Routing Assistant, you can select different combinations of wires and multicores in the Design Browser (Design tab) and Wiring Browser (Wiring tab), both displayed on the bottom left of the application window. The behavior of the Routing Assistant can vary depending on the combination of conductors and where you selected them.
| Objects Selected in Tabs (Before Running Routing Assistant) | Result of Running Routing Assistant |
|---|---|
| A parent multicore node selected either under the Unrouted node of the Design Browser (Design tab) or in the Wiring Browser (Wiring tab). | The Routing Assistant displays available and viable paths for all wires under the parent multicore. Note You can select a multicore in the Wiring Browser (Wiring tab) and run Routing Assistant. However, if a multicore has an unrouted shield when you do this, the Routing Assistant reports 'No routes found'. If you select it in the Design Browser (Design tab) and run Routing Assistant, it will correctly display the available routes. |
| A child core of the multicore node under the Unrouted node of the Design Browser (Design tab). | The Routing Assistant displays available and viable paths for the wires under the selected child innercore. |
| A routed multicore node from the Harness section of the Design Browser (Design tab). | The system shows a message indicating that the wires are already routed. After you acknowledge that message, the Routing Assistant displays the available paths. |
| Multiple multicore nodes and innercores under the Unrouted node of the Design Browser (Design tab). | The Routing Assistant displays available and viable paths for the wires within the selected multicore nodes and innercores. |
| A combination of multicores, individual innercores, and wires under the Unrouted node of the Design Browser (Design tab). | The Routing Assistant displays available and viable paths for all selected wires, innercores, and multicores. |
| A combination of routed and unrouted objects, including multicores, innercores, and wires. | For routed objects, the system shows a message indicating that the conductors are already routed. After you acknowledge the message, the system shows the available paths. |
