Mapping a Signal to an Interface Connector Cavity

You can use a signal map to map a signal and wire to an interface connector cavity (either a generalized connector or a specialized connector).

Procedure

1. Select the interface connector in the Diagram Window or Design Browser (Design tab) and either:
   
   
   Right-click the selected object and choose Signal Map.
   
   Press Space Bar and enter Signal Map.
   
   The Signal Map Dialog Box for Interface Connector displays.

2. In the Signal Mappings table, find the row for the connector cavity and select the Signal by either:
   
   
   Clicking this field and select the name of an existing signal from the drop-down list.
   
   Entering the name of a new signal and pressing Enter. Note that any new signals created in this Signal Map dialog box do not have any corresponding functional nets initially.
   
   
   
   Note You can move, swap, and copy signal mappings when editing them in the Signal Mappings tab of a Signal Map dialog box. See Moving, Swapping, and Copying Signal Mappings. When there are unmapped signals in the Signal Map dialog box, a message displays at the bottom of the Signal Mappings tab: There are unmapped signals. To view them click here. You can click to open a separate Unmapped Signals tab that lists the same columns but only the rows for unmapped signals. The tab is tearable and can be dragged away from its position so that it displays in its own separate window. When first dragging the tab to display the separate window, you must release the mouse button within the area of the Signal Map dialog box. You can then drag the separate window to a location outside of the dialog box.

3. Click OK.
