Design Inspector

To access Design Inspector, in the menu, select View > Design Inspector.

The Design Inspector is available as an interface to expose the functionality of custom plugins that you may want to create to extend the Capital applications. Once a plugin loads, a new tab adds to the inspector, from where all of the plugin’s functions can be accessed.

Just as you can configure other custom action plugins to appear in the dropdown of the Custom ribbon action at the top of an application, you can also configure Design Inspector plugins to do the same. However, note that you cannot access Design Inspector plugins from a context menu that is accessed by right-clicking an object in the design browser or diagram. See Custom Action Plugins.

Note

If there are multiple tabs, you can drag and drop the tabs to reorder them. When you close and reopen the Design Inspector it remembers the order of the tabs and which tab was last active.

For plugin creation and application information, see the CustomDesignInspectorDevelopment.pdf, found in the \doc\plugin folder of your Capital home directory.

Once the plugin has been placed in the correct location, verify it has been loaded. If necessary, refresh the installed plugins list:

  1. Open Capital E/E Publisher, press Space Bar and enter Plugins.

  2. If the custom plugin does not appear in the Available Plugins list, click the Reload All button to refresh the list.

  3. Once you have verified the plugin is present, close the dialog.
