This video demonstrates how to add a library splice and how to connect a wire to it:

Click the Parts tab to access the Parts Browser.

  1. In the search fields at the top of the dialog box / browser, select a part number type from the dropdown list and type the library part number of the splice you require in the text box. Alternatively, click the Search parts using criteria specified button () to display a list of parts matching your search criteria.Tip You can use the Filter to reduce the number of parts that are displayed when you search.

  2. To create the splice:In the Part Selection dialog box, select the splice and click Insert.

In the Parts Browser, double-click the library part or right-click it and select Create Splice.

  1. Move the cursor over the diagram. If the library part does not have a symbol associated with it the cursor changes to and a shadow circle appears indicating where the splice will be added. If the library part has a symbol associated with it the symbol is displayed next to the cursor.

  2. Click to place the splice.

Results

  • The splice is added to the diagram as a symbol and is added to the Design Browser.

  • If you placed the splice on the end of a wire, the wire is connected to the splice.

  • If you placed the splice on a non-shared wire at a point other than one of the ends of the wire, the wire is split into two wires, with one wire retaining the name of the original wire and the other being given a new name.

  • If you placed the splice on an instance of a shared wire at a point other than one of the ends of the instance: If the library part does not have a symbol associated with it the wire is converted to a center-stripped wire and the splice is converted to a center strip splice.

If the library part has a symbol associated with it a new instance of the shared wire is added on one side of the splice.

Note

You cannot resize a symbol in Capital Logic Designer. To resize a symbol graphic, you must use Capital Symbol Designer and then update the symbol graphic on the diagram. See Updating Symbols.
