Cavity Component Management

Manually Overriding Cavity Component Selections

You can override the automatic selection of cavity components, and manually specify the terminals, seals, and plugs for a cavity/wire combination.

It is also possible to interactively add terminal and seals, with associated part numbers, into empty cavities that do not have terminating conductors. This is to comply with specific aerospace industry regulations.

Prerequisites

  • The Cavity Component Management Dialog Box is open.

  • Generate Combinations and Select Parts has been run.

  • Valid components have been auto selected and are available to be overridden, see Automatically Selecting

Cavity Components

				Note 
					Cavity plug selection behaves differently to terminal and seal selection.
						This is due to the way each of the cavity components are stored
						(terminals and seals have a wire present in the cavity and plugs do
						not).

					Where a cavity plug is stored there is no method to
						identify if the plug has been manually placed or automatically placed in
						that cavity.

Procedure

  1. Follow the steps as appropriate:

                                     Note 
                                         The check box in the Terminal / Seal
                                             field indicates that a terminal / seal is to be
                                             auto-selected.
    
                                     
    
                                     
                                         
                                             In the required cavity row
                                             Terminal / Seal field, clear the check box and
                                             click the Edit button, (). The Select Part Dialog Box is
                                             displayed.
    
                                             The Matching Wire Specifications table
                                             shows terminals / seals which are in the housing
                                             definition and their wire specification matches
                                             the specification of the wire in the cavity.
    
                                             The Non-Matching Wire Specifications
                                             table shows terminals / seals which are in the
                                             housing definition but their wire specification
                                             does not match specification of the wire in the
                                             cavity.
    
                                         
    
                                         
                                             Select the required terminal /
                                             seal.
    
                                             or
    
                                             Click Add to open the Part Selection dialog
                                             box where you can search for and select a terminal
                                             / seal that is not in the housing definition.
    
                                         
    
                                     
                                 
    
                             
    
                             
                                 
                                     Override Plug selection
    
                                 
    
                                 
                                     Note 
                                         The check box in the Plug field
                                             indicates that a plug is required (this is indicated
                                             by a tool tip). Do not clear this box.
    
                                     
    
                                     
                                         
                                             In the required cavity row Plug
                                             field, click the Edit button, (). The Select Part Dialog Box is
                                             displayed.
    
                                         
    
                                         
                                             Select a plug from the connector,
                                             backshell, or device
                                             Housing Definitions table.
    
                                             or
    
                                             Click Add to open the Part Selection dialog
                                             box where you can search for and select a plug
                                             that is not in the connector housing
                                             definition.
    
  2. Click OK, to confirm the selection and close the Select Part dialog box.
    Note Subsequent automatic cavity part selections will not override your manual selections. To return a cavity / wire / derivative combination to automatic selection, reselect the Select Term or Select Seal options as appropriate.
