Technical Module Code Assignation

Technical module codes are created where other modes of assignation have been run, and codes cannot be assigned to an object due to the list of available possible codes being compatible.

In Figure 428, running Automated Module Code Assignation in Standard mode has failed to assign module codes to the connectors and clips, as there are no core modules and the codes FM1, FM2, and FM3, assigned to the wires, have no relationships defined and so can come together in different combinations.

In Figure 429, the Output Window displays the results of the failed Automated Module Code Assignation.

Figure 430 shows the results of running Automated Module Code Assignation in Technical mode. During the assignation, each unassigned object is analyzed and is assigned one or more automatically generated technical module codes corresponding to each of the possible combinations of functional module codes being analyzed at that object. In the Figure, module codes TFM1 / TFM2 / TFM3 and so on, are created and assigned by the system for all the connectors and clips. This type of assignation enables the tagging of objects with codes that represent each of the valid combinations of wiring passing through, or terminating at, the object.

Each new technical module code generated has its corresponding code combination registered in the system. In Figure 431, the newly created Technical module codes displayed in the Module Code Dialog Box browser. The Valid Combinations table displays the combinations of FM codes that make up the TM code.

During the creation of the technical module codes, each object is considered in the context of its driving module codes:

If the combination of driving module codes does not already exist, technical module codes and a new context specific combination are created and added to the Generated Combination node. The Valid Combinations table displays the details of created codes.

If the combination of driving module codes does already exist, technical module codes are created according to the project preference setting Reuse existing code or Create new code:

If the preference is set to Reuse existing code, a new technical module code is not created.

If the preference is set to Create new code, a new technical module code is created. The Valid Combinations table displays the details of created codes.

The combinations and codes created are governed by the Technical Module Code Assignation settings within project preferences.

The following rule applies when wires are driving the creation of technical module codes for splices and multi-crimps. When these objects are tagged with technical module codes, Capital Harness Designer Modular also tags the wires associated with these technical modules. This enables the system (during module breakdown) to identify wires that should be excluded from the originally assigned functional modules.

The system assigns objects to module codes in the following order:

  • Splices or Multi-crimps (depending on the setting of the project preference Assignation Order).

  • All other valid remaining components.
