Exporting

Fixture and Drill Point Information

Fixture part details including additional components, fixture and border drill point information such as name, location, additional components, and drill size, as well as any formboard region details, can be exported to an xml file. This file, after appropriate transformation, can be used by automatic drilling machines to accurately drill fixture and formboard fitting position holes during the creation of a formboard for the harness assembly process.

Prerequisites

  • A formboard diagram containing fixtures and drill point datums is open.

  • For Formboard Region information to be exported, the current diagram border must have Formboard Regions defined.

Procedure

  1. Select Files > Export Fixtures from the Capital ribbon. Alternatively, press Space Bar and enter Export Fixtures. A file chooser window displays.

  2. Specify a filename and location for the file to be created.

  3. Click Save.

Results

The export file is created in XML format at the defined location. The format of the XML is defined within the formboardfixtures.xsd schema file located in the dtd folder of your Capital installation directory. See Export Fixtures XML File Format
