Connectivity Hub > ICD Management
ICD Management overview
The ICD Management panel in Connectivity Hub is where you refresh, save, assign, and compare ICDs (Interface Control Documents) against your Platform Component connectivity.
Available actions
- Refresh ICD data — pull the latest ICD content (e.g. after someone else has revised it).
- Open / Save / Revise ICD — the standard document lifecycle actions on an ICD.
- ICD Assignment — assign an ICD to a component, auto-assign, or remove an existing association.
- Create a Functional Design from ICDs — generate a detailed schematic-level Functional Design from a set of ICDs (see Reference design pattern).
- Component Visualization & ICD Compare — visualize synthesized component connectivity and compare it against the ICD's defined connectivity.
Assignment actions in detail
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Assign ICD to Component | Manually associate a specific ICD with the selected component. |
| Auto-Assign ICD | Let Capital determine and assign the matching ICD automatically. |
| Remove ICD Association | Detach the component from its currently-assigned ICD. |
| View ICD | Open the ICD for inspection. |
| Create/Update ICD | Create a new ICD, or update an existing one — see Save modes for exactly how this differs from Overwrite. |
| Overwrite ICD | Replace an existing ICD's content entirely. |
| Revise ICD | Create a new revision of an ICD. |
Visualizing and comparing connectivity
- View Component Connectivity — visualize the synthesized connectivity of the component, including pin mapping.
- Compare Component to ICD Connectivity — visualize and compare the synthesized component connectivity against the ICD's connectivity; differences are highlighted in red. This is the fastest way to spot a mapping gap or mismatch before saving/publishing an ICD.
See ICD server configuration for how ICDs are stored/retrieved (Capital Device Modeler vs. local XML files).
