Overview of Capital

E/E Publisher

Capital E/E Publisher is a service documentation preparation and generation tool. It allows documentation engineers to repurpose logical schematics, wiring designs and harness designs for service documentation without the risk of inadvertently altering the engineering data.

Capital E/E Publisher provides a dedicated environment in which to organize and arrange design objects to suit the needs of service technicians, and in which to embellish designs with service-specific comments and data. The designs can then be combined with external data such as component location diagrams, diagnostic fault code lists and training videos, allowing documentation engineers to publish service documentation as a single, integrated package with an easy-to-use interface which can significantly reduce the time, effort and associated costs of troubleshooting wiring systems.

Capital E/E Publisher can also be used for the generation of Smart Flow (work flow) packages that enable users to easily capture their processes and work flows in a hierarchical, highly visual, and interactive format with links to supporting material.

Modifying Designs

When organizing/embellishing logical schematics, wiring designs and harness designs you can:

  • Filter content for rendering.

  • Partition content by distributing connectivity across several diagrams.

  • Add service-specific component names, properties and symbols.

  • Add comment graphics.

  • Add tables of service-specific data.

  • Back annotate as-manufactured details onto designs.

  • Edit the style set of each design individually or of all the designs within a project.

  • Add or edit design borders.

In addition, with harness designs you can:

  • Move, rotate and stretch bundles without changing their physical length.

  • Move connectors with cavity management deactivated without removing them from their assigned node.

  • Move symbols/nodes such as splices, clips and grommets along their bundle without changing their physical position.

  • Add additional harness dimension data such as reference dimensions and axial dimensions.

Query and Generate a Design and Diagrams

You can use Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer functionality within Capital E/E Publisher to generate a single design and its diagrams for filtered logical connectivity from multiple designs in a project. For further information see Generating a Design and Diagrams for Filtered Connectivity from Multiple Designs.

Package

Types

The following types of packages can be published:

  • CGM package — Creates a folder structure containing interactive CGM files that can be read directly, or deployed into an organization’s existing framework for delivering service documentation. See also CGM Packager.

  • Capital Design Explorer package — Produces a licensed executable file that spawns a self-contained viewer enabling the display of, and interaction with the generated documentation for internal viewing. See also Capital Design Explorer.

  • Capital Change Explorer package — Documentation package comprising design version comparisons in a stand-alone, configurable package that provide immediate change notification. See also Capital Change Explorer.

  • Capital Load Analyzer package — Package for viewing Electrical Load Analysis reports created as part of an aircraft certification process. See also Load Analyzer Packager.

  • Capital Service Explorer package — Fully interactive web application, viewable through any modern web browser. All of the diagrams are in SVG (Scalar Vector Graphics) format, with full intelligent cross-highlighting, signal tracing, and links to other resources. This package includes vehicle-specific diagram filtering, based upon VIN data downloaded from an external database, or via pre-defined vehicle configurations. This package is also supported on a Windows tablet devices, iPads and MAC OS (Safari browser only). See also Capital Service Explorer.

  • Mobile package — Produces a package for viewing, and interacting with, on an Apple iPad®. See also Mobile Packager.

  • PDF package — PDF Package that includes wiring diagrams in a selected scope, and additional documentation such as 2D location views, connector face views and embedded reports. See also PDF Packager.

  • S1000D package — Documentation packages that conform to the S1000D standards. The generated package includes CGM diagrams for each of the wiring schematics and XML files for each system that contains the wiring information. See also S1000D Packager.

  • Smart Flow package — Package that enables customers and users to easily capture their work flows and processes and present the results in a highly visual and interactive format. The smart flow packages can connect multiple levels of customer work flows, and link them to both local and online supporting materials, such as PDF documents, video files, online help and web pages. See also Smart Flow Packager.
