Usage Example – Automatic Routing Overwrites the From Node and To Node of

	Group Member Cables

For cables defined in a group (group member), the From Nodes and To Nodes of the group members are determined by the group leader cable following auto-routing.

In this example, the group leader and group member cables have the same From Device and To Device, but the From Nodes and To Nodes, and Entry IDs are different before auto-routing:

  • Group leader — From Node A and To Node B

  • Group member — From Node C and To Node D

Procedure

Submit the group leader cable and complete auto-routing.

The group leader and group member cable are routed successfully.

Note

Because this is a group of cables, only the group leader is displayed in the Submit Cables for Auto Routing and Manage Routing Requests dialog boxes. See also "Grouping Cables" in Cable Multipliers, Bundles, and Groups.

Results

  • The From Node and To Node of the group member are overwritten with the node values from the group leader:

    From Node C → A

    To Node D → B

  • The route of the group leader is copied to the group member using the updated node values.

  • The group member inherits the Entry IDs from the group leader.
