Duplicating Node Components

You can duplicate exiting node components in the same diagram.

This video shows how you can use the duplicate actions.

Restrictions and Limitations

• You can duplicate components only in the same diagram.

• You can duplicate the following components: Clip

Device

Grommet

Other Component

Splice

Procedure

1. Select the component you want to duplicate (either on the diagram or in the browser).

2. Invoke the duplicate action using one of the following methods:Right-click and select Duplicate.

To place multiple duplicates in the same action, Shift+right-click and select Duplicate.

Use the keyboard shortcut Alt+D

The cursor changes to () to denote an invalid location to place or () to denote a valid location to place.

3. Click the required location on a bundle to place the duplicated component.The Node Position Utility Dialog Box displays.

4. Click OK to confirm the location to place the duplicate.

5. If you chose to create multiple duplicates at Step 2, you can continue to place duplicates at the required points as described. Press the Esc key, or right-click and select Cancel, to end the Duplicate action.

Results

• The system duplicates the component at the selected location on the bundle.

• The duplicated components are created with a new name.

• The orientation of the duplicate component is preserved.

• The following information from the original component is copied to the duplicated component: Part Number
