Functional Design Association
To allocate functions to components and to assign signals and messages to carriers in a platform design, you must first associate one or more functional designs with that design. When doing this, you associate a specific revision of each functional design.
You can associate more than one functional design with a single platform design, either by selecting the designs individually or by using a build list.
You can replace a functional design association with either an association to a newer revision of that design, or with an association to a similar (unrelated-revision) design. The platform design retains allocation of functions common to those functional designs, and retains assignment of common signals/messages to carriers.
Build List Association (Managed Mode)
Using a build list enters a managed mode where Capital Systems Architect is aware of any changes to the build list. New functional designs and revisions can be added to the build list at any time in Capital Systems Modeler, Capital Systems Architect, or Capital Project Manager.
When you open the platform design in Capital Systems Architect, an "Update design associations?" message displays if the build list has changed. You can choose Don't Update or Review Changes. Reviewed changes are not applied until you click OK in the Associate Functional Designs dialog box (or Cancel to discard).
