Adding Duplicate Pins to an

Object

In designs in the active build list, you can place duplicate instances of pins placed on instances of a shared device, plug, jack, or inline in designs outside the active build list. Additionally, if the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference is cleared, you can add duplicate pins to a device, plug, jack, or inline within a design.

Note

The following types of pins are excluded from the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference check, and you can place duplicate instances of such pins regardless of whether or not that project preference is selected: Reference pins, stud pins on non-shared objects, and unrestricted pins on shared objects. Prerequisites

You have placed a device, plug, jack, or inline on a diagram and added a pin or pins to it.

Procedure

Select the object:Press the space bar and enter Add Pin.

Right-click and select Add Pin.

Press P.

The Place Pins Dialog Box [Non-Shared Objects] or Place Pins Dialog Box [Shared Objects] is displayed.

In the Select Pins table, select or multi‑select the pins to place on the object. If you choose to place pins individually on the diagram, they will display in the order selected in the table.
Choose to place pins Individually, As Group, or As Stack, and then click OK.The cursor changes to . Circles indicate locations on the object where you can place the pins and dotted gray lines / boxes indicate locations outside the object where you can place the pins.
If you are placing pins individually, hover over the location to place a pin. If you are placing pins as a group, hover over the location to place the first pin of the group. If you are placing pins as a stack, hover over the location to place the stack.The cursor changes to .
Click to place the pins.
If you are placing multiple pins individually, repeat Steps 4 and 5.

Results

The pins are placed on the object. The object stretches to include any pins placed outside its boundaries.
