Adding an

Overbraid with an Associated Library Part

You can add an overbraid to a harness design by associating an overbraid from the library.

Procedure

Press Space Bar and enter Overbraids. The Edit Overbraids Dialog Box is displayed.
Click the New button; a new overbraid is added to the Selected list.
Select the new overbraid and click Edit; the Edit Overbraids dialog box is displayed.
On the General tab, enter a Name for the overbraid or accept the default offered.
Click the New button beneath the Terminations grid and specify one or more terminations within the Select Termination Locations Dialog Box.
Click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Library Part field. The Part Selection Dialog Box is displayed to search for and insert an overbraid from the library. The associated overbraid will be displayed in the Library Part field.
Click OK. The Edit Overbraids dialog box displays the new overbraid in both the Available and Selected lists.
Add at least one wire (or multicore) to the overbraid. With the overbraid selected in the Selected list, select an item in the Available list, and then click Add.
Click OK.

Results

The overbraid is added to the Harness Design Browser. You can expand the overbraid object by clicking the plus (+) icon to the left; the following overbraid entities are displayed beneath: All of the connector and splice cavities, and backshell terminations, at which the overbraid is terminated (listed within the Terminations folder)

Any overbraids nested within the parent overbraid Note Overbraids are not represented graphically within the design; however, you can view the extent of the overbraid coverage by selecting it in the Harness Design browser. Termination points and the overbraid’s route are highlighted in orange.
