Project Details
This chapter covers the concepts of projects in Capital Project Manager, the Project Details pane, and how to select projects for use in Capital Teamwork.
Project Details Overview
In Capital Teamwork, you can create, view, and edit projects in the Capital database, and add build lists containing your designs into the projects.
Capital Project Manager is the application used to administer the projects and their designs for the Capital suite of applications. A project is usually an automotive or aerospace product line.
Projects are top-level containers for all of the designs and data that comprise a specific product line. Once created, a project can have data added from the Capital applications.
Project Details Tabs
The Details pane for the Project Details workflow displays information for the selected project on three tabs: Details, Attachments, Properties.
Details Tab — Displays the following default attributes:
- Name — Unique identifier of the project.
- Folder — Location of the project in the project structure.
- Description — Additional comments or notes relevant to the project.
- Domain — Assigns a domain to the project (and its designs/attributes) to permit access only to users with matching Domain Access.
You can also specify additional user properties, such as Derivate or Vehicle Type, in the projectconfig.json file. See "Configuration JSON Files."
Attachments Tab — Displays attachments associated with the project as supporting information, listed in a table with columns Name, Type, Key, Modified. You can filter each column (Filter icon) or use the Dropdown on column headers — see "Filtering Tables." Icons let you download, add, or delete attachments — see "Using Attachments."
Tip: You can add file sizes up to 300 MB. To add larger files, edit the projectconfig.json file. See "Configuration JSON Files."
Properties Tab — Displays a list of user properties on the project specified in the source application. Icons let you delete or add properties as Name/Value string pairs — see "Using Properties."
Using Projects
This section covers creating projects and editing project properties/attachments.
Restriction: You must refresh the web page or start a new session of Capital Teamwork to activate any modifications to your domain access. If you have no domain access to a project, the project is not available to select in the Project dropdown list. See "Domain Restricted Visibility" in the Capital Access Manager User Guide.
Creating Projects
You can create a new project and project folder in the Capital database from the Project Details workflow.
Restrictions and Limitations: To avoid separating new folder names into a hierarchy of design folders, do not include backslashes in folder names.
Procedure:
- From the Navigation pane, click the Project Details workflow.
- Click the Create New Project icon to open a new Details tab with blank fields.
- Specify the attribute and property values for the project. Mandatory fields are identified with an asterisk (*).
- (Optional) Use the Folder field to specify where to create the project:
- Specify an existing folder name in the Capital database, or
- Specify a unique name to create a new folder.
- Click the Folder ellipsis (
...) to browse and select the required folder.
- (Optional) Click the Attachments and Properties tabs to include additional information. See "Common Tasks."
- Click Create to save the project in the Capital database.
Editing Projects
You can choose which project to open, edit the details, and update the project in the Capital database.
Prerequisite: The Project Details workflow is selected.
