Edit Shared Dialog Boxes

To access: Right-click a shared object (device, plug, jack, ring terminal, or one side of a shared inline) and select Edit Shared object.

Used to edit the definition of a shared object.

Note

The following descriptions include the fields in all the available Edit Shared object dialog boxes.

The Domains field is available on all the tabs in the dialog box. See Shared Objects and Domains, to assign domains to control which users can view and edit shared objects in a design.

Objects

Field Description
Symbols tab Not displayed if there are no symbols that can be added to the shared device or connector. Lists symbols associated with the shared object. Click Add to add a symbol. To remove a symbol select it in the list and click Remove. Note You can only associate one symbol with each shared plug, jack, inline, or ring terminal. If there is a symbol already associated, the OK button is not available. To replace the existing symbol, select it, click Remove, and then click Add.
Pins tab Unavailable for shared objects with library parts associated. Not displayed for shared objects with no library part associated but with a symbol associated when a symbol is selected in the Symbols tab or a symbol has just been added in the Symbols tab. Caution In a multi-user session, the system retrieves pin availability information only when you first open the dialog box. If another user deletes pins or removes pin assignments while the dialog box is open, you must close and reopen it to see which pins are currently available. Displays the shared object’s shared pin list, which lists the pins in the shared object definition. Click New to add a new pin. The Add Shared Pins Dialog Box is displayed.
Associate Pins tab Displayed only for shared objects with a symbol associated when a symbol is selected in the Symbols tab or a symbol has just been added in the Symbols tab. Used to associate pins on a symbol with pins in the shared object definition. Unassociated pins are shown in bold font; associated pins are shown in plain text. Symbol list Lists the pins on the symbol. Shared Object list Lists the pins in the shared object definition. Click Associate All to associate the pins in the order they appear in the list, or select a pin in the Symbol list and a pin in the Shared Object list then click Associate. Select two associated pins and click Disassociate to disassociate them. Click Disassociate All to clear all pin associations. Click New to add a new pin to the shared object definition’s shared pin list. The Add Shared Pins Dialog Box is displayed.
Pin Reservations tab Lists pins with reservation status of Reserved or Automatic in the Automatic Reservations list. Lists pins with reservation status of Unrestricted in the Unrestricted Pins list. To change a pin’s reservation status to Unrestricted, select it in the Automatic Reservations list and click Add. To change the reservation status of all the pins to Unrestricted click Add All. To move a pin that you have just added to the Unrestricted Pins list to the Automatic Reservations list, select it and click Remove. To move all the pins you have just added to the Unrestricted Pins list to the Automatic Reservations list, click Remove All. Unavailable if there are no pins in the shared object's shared object definition.

Modular tab Displayed for modular connectors only. See Modular Tab (Properties Dialog Box).
