Converting

a Butt Splice to a Center Strip Splice

You can convert a butt splice to a center strip splice if it is not based on a symbol.

Restrictions and Limitations

  • This action is only available in Single‑User mode. If you are running Capital Logic Designer in Multi‑User mode, you must open the current design revision in Single‑User mode. See Multi-User Access to Capital Logic Designer Designs.

Procedure

  1. Select the two wires to become the center strip in the splice.

  2. Press the space bar and enter Convert to Center Stripped.

Results

  • The splice is converted to a center strip splice. Its icon in the Design Browser changes to .

  • The wires become one wire that has the name of the first wire that you selected. In the Design Browser the wire’s icon is and the wire is shown as a child node of the splice node, in addition to being listed in the Conductors folder.

Note

For the “Create Splice” and “Convert To Center Strip Splice” actions the system runs a force apply style for the affected conductor segments and splices, so they are refreshed to the latest style set definition, irrespective of whether any exclude from Apply Style option is enabled. This is to avoid styling issues, for example, where leader line decorations have been applied to the splice prior to conversion.
