Moving Splices to Slots
Automatically
You can move splices to slots automatically by using constraints. You may want to do this if you use junction connectors to implement splices.

You can move slots manually. See Moving a Splice Manually.
Prerequisites
As a minimum, you must have specified “Move splice into slot” constraints to specify which splices can be moved to slots, and you must have added the constraints to slots or the design. See Rules and Constraints.
You can write your own custom “Move splice into slot” constraints, and load them into Capital Systems Integrator. In addition, you can write custom “Assign footprint to device” constraints for the mapping of splices when they are moved to slots.
Move splice into slot - controls which slot each splice is moved into.
Assign footprint to device - controls the mapping of the splice to specific connector cavities. The constraint must implement IXFootprintConstraint.

Note
A splice can only be moved into a slot in the same harness. There must be exactly one matching constraint for a splice in order for it to be moved. If there are no matching constraints, the splice is not moved and no message will be reported. If there are multiple matching constraints, the splice is not moved, but a message will be reported in the Output Window.
Procedure
Decide whether you want to move splices in selected harnesses or all splices to slots.

Results
Splices are moved to slots according to the specified constraints.
The Place tab in the Output Window at the bottom of the application reports:
Which splices have been moved to which slots.
Any failure messages related to conflicting constraints or a connector having insufficient cavities.
A summary of how many splices were moved, or whether no splices were moved.
If you have not created custom constraints for the mapping of splices, the action maps the splice wires according to the following default rules:
The splice is mapped to as many cavities as it has connected wires (one wire is connected to each cavity).
The system runs through all the connectors on the slot (that are connected to the correct harness) to find which can be used.
A connector can be used in the following scenarios: It has enough available cavities (that is, unused cavities with no attached wiring).
It has no part number (so that new cavities can be created).
It has a single cavity part number (so that a multiterm can be created).
Once a connector is chosen, the splice is mapped to the next available cavities (or newly created cavities if appropriate).
If no connector is identified at first, the action runs through the connectors again, looking for one that has enough cavities, even if they are used already.
When it finds one, it starts to reuse cavities even if they are already mapped to an existing splice (of another signal) or other slot device pin (of another signal).
If the cavities are already mapped to a splice connected to the same signal, the action continues to look through the cavities for some that are used by a splice from a different signal.
If no connector has enough cavities, the move fails.
