Creating Module Designs from Module Codes
You can instruct the system to automatically generate module designs based on Functional or Production Module Codes relationships. There is often an intrinsic relationship between module codes on a composite design and the final buildable modules.
As there can be many modules on a composite this facility reduces the workload required to register all the associated designs by automating this process. The newly generated modules are automatically named based on the module code name. If there is a conflict in the design name, for example, the same part number and revision already exists in the database, it is highlighted and the OK button is dimmed, until you manually resolve any conflict.
Procedure
- Either:From the Automate ribbon, click the Mapping dropdown list and choose Map Functional Module Codes To Designs or Map Production Module Codes To Designs.
Press Space Bar and enter Map Functional Module Codes To Designs.
Press Space Bar and enter Map Production Module Codes To Designs.
The Functional or Production Module Code Mapping Dialog Box opens.
You can manually select module codes to map to existing module designs, or use the Auto Map capability.
Alternatively, if you have configured the current project with rules containing Design Attributes and Properties Constraints, you can use these to automatically assign child design names and other attributes.Select the required rule from the Design Attribute Constraint dropdown list and click Apply. The system displays a set of proposed design names (created according to the configured constraints) in the table.
Review the names, and then click OK.
